Man Arrested in Greenfield After 911 Call of Gunfire in a Residence on August 6

  On Saturday, August 6 at about 8:15 A.M., a resident called 911 to report hearing shots being fired in the 50 block of 11th Street. When officers arrived, they were assisted by multiple people who directed officers to a house in which the gunfire had been coming from. Soledad Police Department, King City Police Department, and deputies of the Monterey County Sheriff's Office responded to assist. In the home were two occupants, 28-year-old Christopher Rosales of King City, and a 36-year-old Woman. Officers observed multiple spent casings in the home along with several bullet defects (holes) in the ceiling. Detectives of the South Monterey County Task Force arrived on scene and took over the investigation. Detectives wrote a search warrant for the residence, conducted interviews of the detained individuals, spoke with neighbors, witnesses, and viewed home security camera footage. House Fire Knocked Down in Templeton on August 5

  Firefighters with CAL FIRE SLO and the Paso Robles City Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire on the 500 block of Sequoia Lane in Templeton at 8:50 am on Friday, August 5. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to two rooms of the house and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby vegetation. Everyone inside the home was able to evacuate and no injuries were reported. Six engines were on site. Most of the engines were from CAL FIRE SLO and Paso Robles Fire assisted with the containment of the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation. 

Road and Lane Closures in South Monterey County on Highway 101 for the Week of August 7

  MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, August 7 through Saturday, August 13.  Highway 101: Elm Avenue – Walnut Avenue: August 8 – August 9 One lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Elm Avenue and Walnut Avenue for slope repair work from 6 am to 4 pm. City of Paso Robles Appoints New Public Works Director; Freda Berman and Christopher Alakel Prior Director to head new Utilities Department

PASO ROBLES, CA. August 4, 2022 – The City of Paso Robles has appointed a new Director of Public Works and has established a new Utilities Department. Freda Berman was selected to replace Christopher Alakel as Public Works Director after an internal recruitment. Alakel will head the newly-created Utilities Department.  Berman began with the City in 2004 as the Parks Maintenance Supervisor and has been the City’s Maintenance Superintendent since 2013 and Events Manager since 2005, where she managed a budget of $6.7 million, oversaw a staff of 16 who maintain more than 120 acres of parks and open space, 15,000 trees, 170 acres of Landscape & Lighting District property and buildings totaling 180,000 square feet.  Prior to joining the City, Berman oversaw multi-million dollar construction projects for a national general and landscape contractor, worked for the Olympic Games and World Cup Soccer and assisted with the Special Olympics World Games. Arrests Made for July 21, 2022 Armed Robbery Incident at Carl's Jr. Restaurant in Paso Robles

According to a release put out on August 5 by the Paso Robles Police Department, 24-year-old Kasey William Caraway of Paso Robles and a 52-year-old Paso Robles resident have been arrested for armed robbery of an employee at a Carl’s Jr. Restaurant on Black Oak Drive in Paso Robles at 6:44 am on July 21, 2022. The name of the second suspect will be released after an additional investigation has been conducted. This investigation is ongoing. 3 People in South Monterey County for Firearms Possession and Other Charges on August 4

Officers from the Greenfield and Soledad Police Departments along with detectives of the South Monterey County Task Force (SMCTF) served three warrants resulting in three arrests along with the seizure of four pistols and one semi-automatic assault rifle on Thursday, August 4.  Just before 5:00 A.M., the Greenfield and Soledad Police Departments, SMCTF detectives, with assistance from the Gonzales Police Department, served the first search warrant on the 300 block of Ayrshire Way in Gonzales.  Officers recovered two loaded and unregistered Polymer 80 semiautomatic “ghost” guns, a Smith and Wesson revolver, an American Tactical .223/.556 semi-automatic rifle, extended gun magazines, and ammunition. 20-year-old Gregory Escareno of Gonzales, was not home at the time of the warrant, but turned himself in to police hours later.
