On Saturday, August 6 at about 8:15 A.M., a resident called 911 to report hearing shots being fired in the 50 block of 11th Street. When officers arrived, they were assisted by multiple people who directed officers to a house in which the gunfire had been coming from. Soledad Police Department, King City Police Department, and deputies of the Monterey County Sheriff's Office responded to assist.
In the home were two occupants, 28-year-old Christopher Rosales of King City, and a 36-year-old Woman. Officers observed multiple spent casings in the home along with several bullet defects (holes) in the ceiling. Detectives of the South Monterey County Task Force arrived on scene and took over the investigation. Detectives wrote a search warrant for the residence, conducted interviews of the detained individuals, spoke with neighbors, witnesses, and viewed home security camera footage. Through their investigation, detectives learned that Rosales and the woman, who were dating, were in a physical altercation. The woman attempted to leave the home several times, but Rosales prevented her from leaving. Rosales grabbed a shotgun and fired it several times into the ceiling.
At the residence, Task Force detectives located five firearms: a loaded 9mm Beretta semiautomatic handgun with an extended magazine, a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson SD9 with an extended magazine, a Surplus Arme assault rifle with an extended magazine, and two Maverick Arms 12-gauge shotguns (one was loaded). Detectives also located almost 300 rounds of ammunition, and marijuana wax.
Rosales was arrested for multiple firearm related charges, along with felony domestic violence, false imprisonment, and narcotic charges. He was transported to the Monterey County Jail. Thankfully, the woman was not hurt.
