Construction on US 101 in King City Enters Final Phases with Asphalt Paving of Ramps

 

MONTEREY COUNTY – Construction on the US 101 in King City nears its last weeks with the application of rubberized hot mix asphalt to all on and off ramps.


Starting Tuesday, June 13, and continuing Monday through Friday over the next 2 weeks, crews will close on and off ramps on US 101 in King City from 7 am to 7 pm.


Only one on and off ramp in a single direction will be closed at a time. 


Crews will progress through the ramps in a northerly direction, with full ramp closures starting at the Wildhorse Road interchange and continuing through with closures of the ramps at First Street, Canal Street, and Broadway Street, before finishing at Jolon Road.


Detours will be available with travelers able to reach their destination by accessing ramps to the north or south of any closed ramp.


On and off ramp closures will be limited to a Monday through Friday schedule. Beginning Friday afternoons and continuing through the weekend, all ramps through King City and both lanes in each direction of US 101 will remain open.


The contractor for this $78 million construction project is OHL, USA of Irvine, CA. This project is expected to be completed at the end of July 2023.

3 Vehicle Wreck on Highway 101 Outside of King City on December 26

  A 3 vehicle accident happened on Highway 101 Northbound near the Central Avenue exit outside of King City at 12:07 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 26. One of the vehicles overturned as a result of the crash. Minor injuries were reported from the collision. 

Greenfield Man Arrested for November 26 Attempted Murder Incident in King City

  On November 26, 2024, at approximately 4:05 PM, officers from the King City Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Broadway Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had been shot multiple times and was transported by family members to a local hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening wounds. Through investigation, detectives identified a possible suspect vehicle. A subject associated to that vehicle was contacted and later arrested for his involvement in the shooting. He is identified as 20-year-old Adrian Justo of Greenfield. Justo was booked into Monterey County Jail for attempted murder. There is no additional information at this time and the investigation is on-going.
