Keith Boyd Appointed as New King City Police Chief

Steve Adams, City Manager of King City announced on Thursday, May 20 the appointment of Keith Boyd as the City’s new Chief of Police. Boyd was selected following an extensive recruitment, selection and background review process. The process included outreach by a leading professional executive search firm; interviews by three panels of well-respected city managers, police chiefs, community members and staff; and finally interviews and reference checks by the City Manager. According to City Manager Adams: “Based on the results of our selection process and my experience working with Mr. Boyd, I believe King City is fortunate to be hiring someone with his level of integrity, expertise and commitment to serving our community.” Adams further stated that “I am very confident we are hiring the best person to lead our Police Department and continue the progress the City has been making to better protect, and establish a relationship of trust and collaboration with, our residents.” Boyd has served the City of King as Police Captain since 2019 and most recently as Interim Chief of Police since January of 2021. His past experience includes positions with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the Woodburn Police Department, and Central Marin Police Authority, which include a wide range of positions and assignments in almost all specialized areas of law enforcement. According to Chief Boyd, “It is truly an honor and I am humbled by my selection to be the next leader of the organization. I am excited to work in partnership with the men and women of the organization as we move into the future as a team to serve our community. I would like to thank City Manager Adams, Mayor Lebarre and the members of the City Council for the opportunity to serve as the next Chief of Police in King City. The Police Department has come a long way in the past 5 years and it is my promise to the City and members of the community to ensure the organization strives to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and excel as leaders in public safety.” Boyd will be officially sworn in as the King City Police Chief at a ceremony outside at King City City Hall on Thursday, June 3 at noon. 3 Vehicle Wreck on Highway 101 Outside of King City on December 26

  A 3 vehicle accident happened on Highway 101 Northbound near the Central Avenue exit outside of King City at 12:07 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 26. One of the vehicles overturned as a result of the crash. Minor injuries were reported from the collision. 

Greenfield Man Arrested for November 26 Attempted Murder Incident in King City

  On November 26, 2024, at approximately 4:05 PM, officers from the King City Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Broadway Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had been shot multiple times and was transported by family members to a local hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening wounds. Through investigation, detectives identified a possible suspect vehicle. A subject associated to that vehicle was contacted and later arrested for his involvement in the shooting. He is identified as 20-year-old Adrian Justo of Greenfield. Justo was booked into Monterey County Jail for attempted murder. There is no additional information at this time and the investigation is on-going.
