Monterey County Water Resources Agency Names Interim Water Resources Agency Manager

The Monterey County Water Resources Agency announced on Monday, December 17 that they've selected Shauna Lorance as their interim General Manager effective January 2, 2019. Lorance will lead the agency while a national recruitment continues for a permanent director. Salary for this limited-term assignment will be finalized by the Board of Supervisors during their first meeting next year, January 8, 2019. Ms. Lorance brings to Monterey County Water Resources Agency three decades of experience in both water management and as a water resources consulting engineer. For 20 years, she worked at the San Juan Water District, one of the largest water providers in the Sacramento region. She was the general manager at this District for 13 years. “We are pleased to be able to retain a manager of Ms. Lorance’s caliber to provide oversight and continuity for the Water Resources Agency at this time,” says Supervisor Luis Alejo, Chair, Monterey County Water Resources Agency Board of Supervisors. “The Agency has significant projects in process such as projects in cooperation with the Salinas Valley Groundwater Sustainability Agency, completion of the Interlake Tunnel project, and future work to meet the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s and California Division of Safety of Dams’ compliance projects at Lakes San Antonio and Nacimiento.”
Ms. Lorance has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis and is a registered civil engineer in the state of California.

3 Vehicle Wreck on Highway 101 Outside of King City on December 26

  A 3 vehicle accident happened on Highway 101 Northbound near the Central Avenue exit outside of King City at 12:07 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 26. One of the vehicles overturned as a result of the crash. Minor injuries were reported from the collision. 

Greenfield Man Arrested for November 26 Attempted Murder Incident in King City

  On November 26, 2024, at approximately 4:05 PM, officers from the King City Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Broadway Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had been shot multiple times and was transported by family members to a local hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening wounds. Through investigation, detectives identified a possible suspect vehicle. A subject associated to that vehicle was contacted and later arrested for his involvement in the shooting. He is identified as 20-year-old Adrian Justo of Greenfield. Justo was booked into Monterey County Jail for attempted murder. There is no additional information at this time and the investigation is on-going.
